Our Client this multidisciplinary engineering consultancy have a requirement for a Geoenvironmental engineer within their South Manchester office, of this larger consulting group. The Geoenvironmental Section is driven to provide effective holistic solutions for a range of different sites in terms of geotechnical, environmental and waste management issues for a very wide range of commercial and private clients. This company specialises in identifying, quantifying and reducing abnormal costs to developments at an early stage.
The successful candidate should have between 2 - 5 years’ experience working in either a consulting or contracting environment. The successful candidate would preferably have a proven track record in undertaking contaminated land, geotechnical and civil engineering site investigations. Remediation and verification work are also core to this position; however, direct experience is not necessarily required. The candidate must have a high level of report writing skills and must be able to tailor reports to a range of different scopes. A Masters degree is beneficial either within geological or environmental science disciplines.
The responsibilities for this position will include, but are not limited to the following:
• Setting up and managing site investigations, remediation and verification works;
• Accurate and precise recording of the data obtained from site;
• Management of site based sub-contractors;
• Generic and site specific risk assessments; and,
• Ensuring that health and safety aspects of site investigations are of paramount concern.
The ideal candidate should have experience with the use of borehole software such as HoleBase/AGS and have excellent MS Word and Excel skills, as well as a knowledge of CAD. The candidate should also be prepared to gain an intimate knowledge of all current guidance, as this will be essential.
